About
Areej Quraishi is an author, teacher and scholar. Her writing explores familial relationships, cultural identity, memory, and their effects on the psyche. Her surrealist fiction is inspired by folklore and fairytale. She holds a PhD from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington-Seattle and an MA from Rutgers University. Her fiction has been published and honored in numerous prestigious literary journals. She is at work on a novel-in-stories featuring immigrant narratives and a novel and short story collection based on magic, myth, and psychological fantasy. She is an alumna of the Los Angeles Review of Books’ Publishing Workshop, and the former Editor of Witness.
